What's new this week? Well, Lucia is now 3.25 months old. Or as Nick put it, the ends of Bongo's fur is older than she is. She flashes her gummy smile to anyone with eyeballs. She coos and squeals and gurgles (cute gurgles). Nick even made her laugh when he was tickling her. It sounded more like Pee-Wee Herman (heh-HEH), than a true laugh. Either way, we were cracking up. She's also started to grab at her toys now. Before she would just stare blankly at them hanging in front of her, but these days she's reaching out for the dragonfly with plastic circles that clank together. It seems to take tremendous concentration on her part. You can practically see the synapses making the connections in her brain. Hand. Touch. Noise! We're also working on rolling over. If she's even slightly better than Bongo at doing this then we're in great shape. She's almost got it down. It's just getting that big noggin of hers to flip over that's the hard part. It's hysterical to see her try. She is beginning to notice Bongo, but I think he just confuses her.
So on Saturday we are all, ALL, going to Texas for Thanksgiving and for our friend's wedding. It's the first time flying with a baby and a dog, so this should be fun. And by fun I mean terrifying. I keep replaying this scene in my head where Lucia is screaming at the top of her lungs as we're taking off, and I look out the window and see Bongo running down the runway. But, if we make it to Texas with the same amount of people, animals, and luggage that we started out with, then it's going to be one great trip. I sure do miss my Texas family and can't wait to show Lucia the Mother Country.
I've found that nighttime, when Nick and baby are both sleeping, is when I can have some quality Vicky-Is-#1-Time. Even if all it consists of is checking facebook or playing Words With Friends, it sure is nice to have some alone time. Of course, part of my alone time will have to include washing dishes and tidying up the living room....Which reminds me of an idea I had and meant to run it by Nick--I think we should have just one plate, one glass, and one fork for each of us. I may not even tell him and just pack up our dishes and see if he notices.
Alright, well duty calls and so will bed, eventually. Over and out.
